  1. The most common problems you are likely to encounter are:
  2.  
  3. 1. Autodetect of your sound card may not work.  Please do the following:
  4. Look at your autoexec.bat, look for your SET BLASTER setting (assuming
  5. you are using a Sound Blaster compatible card).  Use the Port address, 
  6. DMA, and IRQ values for your sound settings.
  7.  
  8. 2. If you have an 8 meg system, we recommend you turn off smart drive or 
  9. run it with a 512k buffer.  Remove any TSR's or other programs that 
  10. utilize low and extended memory.
  11.  
  12. 3. If your system keeps hanging up, reboot your computer with the shift 
  13. key held down to bypass your normal startup files or F5 for MS DOS 6.0+.
  14. Some systems do not work well with HIMEM and EMM386.  
  15.  
  16. 4. For slower systems, it may be necessary to set the sound quality lower
  17. and to reduce the number of channels to 4 or below.  Reducing the screen
  18. size also speeds the game up considerably.  Turn off mouse and joystick
  19. support if you aren't using them.
  20.  
  21. 5. It may be necessary to increase the sound cache value up to 4 if you 
  22. are using a Gravis Ultrasound soundcard.  The card has internal memory
  23. and decreasing the sound cache too far may slow playback substantially
  24. on this device.
  25.  
  26. 6. At the time this version was released modem play was not fully supported.
  27. You will experience problems if your modem is using the older UART 8250 
  28. (this comprises the better part of the people that use modems... 
  29. we're workin on it.)
  30.
